FLORA OF NORTH AMERICA
north of Mexico
README.DOC for WAIS datafile: FNA_vol2.data
NOTE: The FNA area includes the United States (except Hawaii), Canada,
Greenland, and the French Islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon
The datafile FNA_vol2.data contains all descriptive and associated text for
PTERIDOPHYTE and GYMNOSPERM names found in the currently available volume 2,
Vascular Cryptogams through Gymnosperms.
The data are currently stored in related files maintained in a PICK DBMS
running on an IBM RISC 6000 using the AIX version 3 operating system. The
complete text from volume 2 has been extracted from the PICK tables and
written here in a "labeled data" format (a twist on the delimited file
concept) that should make the data more understandable and useful to the
casual user.
